A Few of My Scrapbook Pages

This subject of this page is my brother. He died in November of 2008 and there's not a day that goes by that I don't miss him terribly. I love looking at this page that I made as a tribute to him, showing him at various stages of his life. He was a terrific brother !
Thest two pages look very different but all of the pictures are actually of the same tree taken at different times of the year. It's my favorite tree, a Washington Hawthorne.  We planted it shortly after we bought the land we live on.
I have always loved this photo of two of my grandsons, taken several years ago, and couldn't resist adding it to one of my scrapbooks.
There is a little glare on this picture but this very simple page is about my home state of NC.    I have lived other places and enjoyed what those states had to offer  but for me there's no place quite like home.  The bullet list in the bottom corner tells a variety of facts about the state, things that most people wouldn't know. It was typed up on my computer and printed in blue ink on vellum.  The die cuts were purchased at a local scrapbook store and all are related to things that people like to do while in NC or in the case of the title, what NC is known for, the first airplane flight by the Wright Brothers.

As The Thoughts Flow..........

I started out with the general idea of playing around with patterned papers again to try combining them in a way that "works".  Then I found myself digging through my scrap die cuts and thought it would be fun to use some of the ones from Kate's Kitchen on some cards. Deciding I needed some sentiments I started flipping through my stamp notebook. A little while later I had several cards in front of me.......this is what I came up with.

All You Really Need Is Love and Alot of Paper is from KAndrews  Crafty Friends stamp set. The rest of this card is simply scraps and a little home made punched flower.
Besties is also from the same K Andrews Crafty Friends stamp set in addition to scrap paper and my Cricut Imagine Kate's Kitchen cartridge.

This card was made with scraps, extra die cuts from Kate's Kitchen, and the words Ready ...Set   were stamped from  Crafty Friends as well.  Chomp Chomp came from a Studio G set.
This super simple card is a yummy looking die cut bowl of cookie dough from Kate's Kitchen and the stamp, Simply Fabulous !, came from K Andrews Fashionable Friends stamp set. The mat  was cut with my Cricut and if I remember correctly, the Elegant Edges cartridge.
Happy Birthday was from my patterned paper "experiment" and the Happy Birthday die cut was cut with my Cricut. That die cut is embellished a little with a white Viva Decor pearl pen, recommended by Megan Elizabeth of Above Rubies Studio. I have several of those in different colors and I love them !
My final card of the day was made with all scaps and I'm actually not quite sure what I'll do with it yet, but I love that paper and I have several grandchildren whose first names start with the letter E so I'm sure I'll have no problems coming up with a use for it.

I had actually planned to do some scrapbooking today and never quite got to that because I decided instead to just go with the flow and follow along wherever my thoughts  led me. That's ok, though. Tomorrow is another day and from today's  efforts I have several more cards to add to my stash of cards that will be set aside and ready when I need them .

Sitting in my craft room today I started playing around with some die cuts left over from recent cutting fun and came up with five quick cards. It's kind of fun to see how many different cards come out of basically the same cuts just by letting things flow on their own.

Ok, so the last one is a little different from the others, but still uses die cuts that I have used previously .    Now I need to decide which of my other cartridges to play with next and try doing something very different from what I've been doing lately.

I Love My Imagine and Lori's Garden

Every time I use my Cricut Imagine I fall in love with it all over again ! I really, really love my Lori's Garden cartridge and even though I have had both the Imagine and the cartridge for quite a while now I had never printed a full sheet of paper. I decided to give it a try and printed both the script paper and the green color that I used on both of the cards shown here. Awesome !  I also printed and cut the butterfly. It's on the cartridge as a side view but I copied and flipped the image , printed it in several sizes and pop dotted the layers together. The top layer of the butterfly is  bent alittle so in person it has a nice dimensional look. I added a piece of blue ribbon and used a  stamp from Walmart for the sentiment. The other card is also made entirely from printed papers except for the blue and the layers are pop dotted for dimension. . I had some scraps of the printed paper so I took one, punched a hole in it with my Crop A Dile and added a piece of scrap ribbon to make a book mark.

Altered Card

I posted this card recently with a Happy Easter stamp on it and then decided to play with it some more. I dug through my stash of die cuts and found this pocket that  I had made a long time ago. It's sort of an accoridan folder actually. I attached it to the card and then added some puffy acrylic butterfly stickers to it just for fun.  Inside the pocket is a stamped note card .  It's not my favorite card ever but I think I like it better than I did before......

Monochromatic Card

I made this card today with creamy colored papers and my newest Cuttlebug embossing folders.  I pop dotted the top layer on and the flower so they'd stand out a little from the rest.  It's hard to get a real good picture that shows the detail in the layers so I'm using the best shots I got to share with you. The  photo really doesn't do the card justice. It' much prettier in person.  I"m not sure yet who the recipient will be but I think she'll like it.   I hope you will too.
