Cricut Robotz Birthday Card

Yesterday was my grandson's tenth birthday. I used my Cricut Expression and Gypsy to make this birthday card for him. The cartridge used was Robotz. I've had it for a while but this was my first time using it. I used all metalic papers for the robot and heat embossed the sentiment. I didn't make it exactly  the way they did in the handbook, but then, I never do. Somehow I always seem to start out that way and end up making changes as I go, but that's what's fun about crafting...we're always free to do things the way we want to and there usually isn't a right and wrong way to do things.

Handstamping and Glitter Card

I am really enjoying stamping my own background paper lately. For this card I used a stamp from Walmart's Studio g selection with markers for the background, pink Recollections glitter paper from Michaels to mat it, a six sided punch that I've had for years for the sentiment mat , and a piece of pink ribbon.  The sentiment is from a grab bag of rubber stamps from My Sentiments Exactly.  I think it's pretty and cheerful and have added it to my stash to send to a friend later on when the need arises.

E-Mail Address Book

I recently had a problem with my computer and thought I might have lost everything at one point, including my address book.   I know I can just print a hard copy of it from my computer but since I like to play in my craft room I decided to make an e-mail address book instead.  I used a Sizzix file folder die and my Sizzix Big Shot to cut out enough file folders for all of the letters of the alphabet plus a few extras and used index cards for pages to put in the folders.  I stamped a design on the front cover and then  I covered my book covers with clear contact paper  to give it a protective finish before binding with my Cinch.  Now to get busy writing in all of my friends' e-mail addresses............

Home Made Background Paper and Cards

I decided to use some of my pretty Martha Stewart stamps to make some homemade background paper, something I haven't done in a long time. I love the way the paper turned out .

I used my papers to make a couple of cards. Here are my finished cards.

The camera lens didn't do justice to the pretty handmade flower in the center of the smaller card. It really is pretty in person even if it does look like a blob in the photo.  Here is a picture of a bunch of the little flowers, still not the best view of them but better than the angle on the card.

All in all, I've been having fun in my craft room.  I hope to be right back in there tomorrow working on another project I have in mind.   So many ideas....so much fun....Thanks for stopping by.

A Little Stamping Fun

I decided to do something a little different today and get out a few stamps to play with, a couple of which I have had for years and have never used. It took just a few minutes to create two cards to add to my "stash" for when I need a card and don't have time to make one right then.   I'm thinking I should probably make a point of using "old supplies" on a regular basis. It's amazing how many things a crafter  can collect over the years  that seem so important at the moment of purchase and then get set aside and not used for a long time, if ever !  I hope this post encourages you to use some of your unused craft supplies too.

A CookBook for my Grandson

One of my grandsons loves to cook and bake and has plans to open a bakery/candy store when he is grown.  He asked me for some of my recipes so I decided to make him a cook book.  I used my Cricut Imagine and convinced myself to handwrite the recipes rather than typing them,,,,,,,had alot of fun making for him and hope he enjoys using it over the years.  I left several blank pages in the back of the book so he can add some recipes of his own. I like to think that this little cookbook I created might be around for a couple of generations of our descendants.  Since my grandson takes really good care of his things it's possible that  it just might be !

My Adaptation and Way to Save Myself Some Money

A little while back I watched a craft day demo on hsn of the awesome new WeRMemoryKeepers  Super 8 punches. I really like what they do, just couldn't find money in the budget to purchase any of them right then. So.........I did the next best thing.  I decided to use tools I already had to get a similar effect.  Here are my results, using my Cricut Expression.

I then found a basic scallopped circle on one of my cartridges and added the inside holes to the design with my gypsy, cut that out in a couple of sizes and attached them to cardstock to make a card or the interactive center of a scrapbook page.
The little flower in the center is also handmade , using my Cricut and then rolled for dimension, and placed on a star, which represents the leaves.  It's not exactly the same as what I could do with the punches but close enough to satisfy me and saved me alot of money by using what I had instead of buying something new.
